A $1,000,000 Pledge By Gus Kenworthy

I had the pleasure of meeting Gus Kenworthy back in March at the Miami Beach Gay Pride Gala.  In atypical fashion I went up and introduced myself wearing The AIDS Memorial T-shirt and Gus immediately shared he followed the account.

I had all but forgotten meeting several months back, when I opened Facebook this week and was greeted by this post of Stuart Armstrong's, founder of The AIDS Memorial on Instagram.

Shortly thereafter I caught the same photo posted on Gus' Instagram with the following caption:

"It's my 27th birthday!!! Do you wanna help make it my best birthday ever?? Then click the link in my bio and consider donating a few bucks to my @aidslifecycle campaign. I'm going to be biking from SFO to LA in June and I've pledged to raise $1,000,000 to fight HIV/AIDS and I won't be able to do it without your help! Also, take a moment to visit @theaidsmemorial's page (it's the t-shirt I'm wearing) and read a few of the posts. You'll quickly learn why this bike race is so important to me! Thank you in advance for your generosity and for all the birthday wishes - I love you all! ❤️🎈🎂🍰🥂🚲💪🏼🎉♎"

Seeing Gus has 1 million followers, his lofty goal seems possible and how amazing would that be.  If you want to support Gus' ride with AIDS/LifeCycle  and help him reach that $1,000,000 goal follow this link:  http://www.tofighthiv.org/goto/guskenworthy

The surprises kept coming as this story soon showed up on my Facebook newsfeed with Gus in the buff.  Not only did we get a peek, but the article also highlighted Gus' lofty goal.

I remain incredibly grateful to be working with Stuart Armstrong and The AIDS Memorial.  The connections and stories never cease to amaze me.  It is a thrill to be able to share that we have sold over 800 t-shirts and they are now in 18 countries around the globe and over $5,000 has been donated to Housing Works.
